Here's what we were working with - overgrown beds, weedy ground cover, and a front yard that just wasn't doing the home any favors. For a classic brick property in downtown Bethlehem, the bones were great. The landscaping just hadn't kept up.

We cleared everything out and started fresh. The design called for decorative crushed stone as the primary ground cover - it keeps maintenance low, handles drainage well, and gives the beds a clean, finished look that holds up over time. From there, we focused on plant selection. Hydrangeas, boxwoods, coneflowers, black-eyed Susans, and a young ornamental tree were all worked into the layout with intention. Each plant was chosen to complement the brick exterior and give the yard color and texture through multiple seasons.

The Techo-Bloc stepping stones were one of our favorite parts of this install. They run from the sidewalk right up to the front porch - functional, well-spaced, and sturdy. It's the kind of detail that makes a yard feel designed rather than just planted. No more walking through bare dirt or uneven ground to get to the front door.

What we ended up with is a yard that actually matches the character of the home. The planting layout flows naturally around the structure, the stone groundcover ties everything together, and the stepping stone path gives the whole front a sense of purpose and direction. That's really what good landscape design and installation comes down to - making sure every element works together, not just individually.

Properties like this one are common in downtown Bethlehem. Older homes with great architecture that just need a landscape plan to match. When the design is done right, the curb appeal improvement is immediate and lasting.
